We Celebrate National Volunteer Week 2018

From April 15-21 we celebrate National Volunteer Week. The theme of the week this year is “Celebrate the Value of Volunteering.” The men and women that give their time to Calgary Counselling Centre add immense value to the organization and play a critical role in our mission to deliver the best counselling possible.

Often the first point of contact people have with Calgary Counselling Centre is with a volunteer, either through the intake call centre where they guide individuals through the intake process, or at the reception desk where the clients are welcomed.

Our volunteers are gaining value from their time with us as well. Not only are they expanding their skills and experience, but they gain confidence from the knowledge that they are making a difference and they are valued and appreciated.

Here’s what some of our volunteers have said about their experience at Calgary Counselling Centre:

“I think it’s awesome that individuals within Calgary and surrounding area have access to counsellors regardless of their income or lack thereof. Mental health support and awareness are very important, and the fact that CCC can help with that makes me want to be a part of it! I think CCC does a great job of already making me feel valued. Whether I come to volunteer once a month or once a week I have always felt like I was part of the team.” – Kate

“Being at the Centre allows me to constantly grow, learn and develop as a person. I cannot stress enough how much the Centre has made me feel valued. I receive constant praise and appreciation for my time spent volunteering with the CCC.” – Rachel

As I continue volunteering I realize that it is life changing. I have become more appreciative of what counsellors are doing for our community.” – Violet

Volunteering is dually beneficial – to the community and to the individuals giving their time and skills. At Calgary Counselling Centre, we rely on our volunteers and are pleased to celebrate and appreciate them this and every week.

We want to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers whose dedication and commitment make it possible for us to our work in the most effective way. Your work has an extraordinary impact in our lives and the lives of our clients.
